UB-Rashaan Khad-Uglugchiin Kherem- Onon River-UB route

4 days 3 nights’ trip with half-day-horse trekking tour to historical and archeological sites and beautiful sceneries located in Khentii Province known as the birthplace of Chingiss Khaan

 Day 1: Ulaanbaatar city

Pick up the guests from Chinggis Khaan international airport, have dinner at a restaurant in UB, and drive to Khentii province by bus. Due to a long drive ahead, personal preparation must be done very well. Stay overnight in a ger hotel in Jargaltskhaan soum, Khentii province which is 220 km away from UB.

Day 2. Depart toward Batshireem soum, Khentii province

Have breakfast at the ger hotel in Jargaltkhaan soum and start our tour through the birthplace of Chinggis Khaan. Do not forget to keep your camera with you during your exploration of long and interesting trip ahead.  

On the way from Jargaltkhaan to Umnudelger soum, the trip continues visiting herder families and experiencing the nomadic lifestyle in-situ. After going 60km from Jargaltkhaan, we will pass Umnudelger soum center, then travel through Khurkh River and Khurkh Valley, and arrive at Rashaan Khad which is an archeological and historical place of ancient Mongol Empire.

Rashaan Khad is a granite rock with numerous types of ancient rock paintings and drawings depicting animals and people, more than 20 different inscriptions in such as Kidan, Arabic, Persian, Tibetian, Chinese and Mongolian scripts, and different seals of Mongolian Great Khaans and seals of different Mongol tribes which are dated back to Stone Age and 16th century, is a place where many ancient graves which date back to Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages and Huns period were found, and many historical and archeological findings that belong to Bronze Age, Huns period, Kidan and Great Mongolian Empire were found. After visiting Rashaan Khad, we will have take-away lunch and continue our trip to Ugluch Wall.

Uglugch wall is an ancient wall located 45km southwest of Batshireet soum and 8-10km from confluence of Ugluch and Bayangol rivers in the mouth of Daichin mountain with pine and larch forest. The wall is unique as it was made entirely of stone without use of mortar. The 3.1m high and 2.5m wide wall stretches approximately 3km long with two gate traces at the front and south sides and with residual of rolled-earth dam inside. A terrace of clay just attached to inside of the fortress is regarded to be a platform where the 12th-14th century archers stood on. But based on the findings and the pieces of the clay vases, historian Perlee.Kh identified that the wall dates back to Chinese period.

We will continue our trip on dirt road passing the Batshireet soum center, arrive at Onon-Yol tourist camp at the bank of Yol lake and stay in a ger or a wooden house.

Have dinner here and after dinner, you can enjoy observing the stars in the night sky or kayaking in the lake at night.

Day 3. Horse trekking to Onon river which is a motherland of Chinggis Khaan

Have breakfast.

On this day, you will be involved in adventurous trip while admiring the beauty of the nature. Thus, please prepare for it.

Brief introduction on horse riding, horse tack and how to be safe around will be given.. Hiking around the lake, kayaking, fishing and swimming in the lake is available.

Lunch

After lunch, we will have horse trekking to Onon River where Great Mongolian Kings were raised drinking its water. Horse trekking tour will be led by the tour guide and a local horse guide and accompanied by a vehicle that carries drink water supply, personal belongings and first aid kit. This trip will last for 14km passing the forest mountain and going through the trees at the bank of Onon river. Stay for a while at the bridge of Onon river. From here tourists will be taken to the camp by bus.

Farewell dinner

Mongolian traditional meal called “Khorkhog” is cooked and served outside while enjoying Buriad type of folk performance. The third day will end with fire work and Yokhor traditional dancing.

Day 4. Departure to UB

After breakfast, depart to UB by bus. Have lunch in Jargaltkhaan soum. On the way to UB, we will stop by the Chingiss Khaan Statue Complex “Tsonjin Boldog”. Have dinner at a restaurant in UB and drive to Chinggis Khaan International airport for departure.
